What if I do not know all of the answers to the questions on the Nomination Form?
Please complete the form to the best of your ability for the family you are nominating.  Do not contact the family you are nominating if you do not have some of the information on the form, as we would like this to remain a surprise for them if they are chosen.  We will get the remaining information if we choose the family.  The most important thing is to make sure you give us details about their situation and a contact phone number.
I need help for my own family.  Can I nominate myself?

We cannot accept families who complete this nomination form for their own family.  Each family needs to be nominated by someone outside of their home who knows of their situation.  This is our only rule.

I was contacted by someone who asked me to nominate them, but I’m not sure that they really are in need of the help.  What should I do?

If you have been contacted by a family that requests you nominate them for assistance, please be aware that you are under no obligation to do so unless you feel like they legitimately need the help.  We rely on our community to give us accurate and legitimate nominations.   We take our donors financial commitments to HopeMatch very seriously and want to assure that the families who are truly in need are getting the help. 
 

How will the family know if they are chosen?  Will you let them know if they are not chosen?

Please be aware that we receive many nominations and are not able to help everyone who is nominated.  We will contact the family directly if they are chosen to receive help by the second week of December.  Due to the large number of nominations we receive, we are not not able to let families know if we are not able to help.  This is also why we would like the nomination to remain a surprise.

   
How do you know that the families you help are legitimately in need?
At HopeMatch, we go to great lengths to assure to the best of our ability, that we are helping people who truly need the help and would not normally ask for help on their own.  Each nomination is screened and verified before we match it with a donor. 
 
Do you participate in Corporate Giving Matching Gift Programs?

Yes, we are already listed on many matching gifts lists with some of the major employers in the Charlotte area.  Check with your HR department to see if HopeMatch is on the list.  If it is not, please let your HR department know that you would like us added.  If you need any additional information from us, please let us know.  This is a great source of revenue for us to help families throughout the year!

 

I like to give to Christmas charities, but I often don’t know where my gift goes or who receives it.  How is HopeMatch different?

At HopeMatch, we strive to make your giving experience as personalized as possible.  We provide you with a list of items for the families so that you get items that will really make them feel special. We also give them a “thank you” card they can return to us to let you know what it meant to them to get the help.  We forward those cards in January, once they are received.

 

Is HopeMatch just a Christmas charity, or are there ways to partner with you year round?

HopeMatch started as a Christmas program, but has grown into so much more!  We are really looking for people to partner with us who believe in what we are doing to bring HOPE to our community.  It would help us tremendously if you would consider being a MONTHLY donor to HopeMatch.  Since HopeMatch is privately funded, it would help us take our mission to the next level.  It is easy to set up a MONTHLY donation here on our website.
