Dear Family,

I would like to take a moment to thank you for the Christmas presents from your family to mine.

Due to a recent layoff from my job, I had no idea of how I was going to pay the rent, let alone buy Christmas presents for my grandson. Through the grace of God my grandson will have a wonderful Christmas day. A simple “thank you” is just not enough for the tremendous blessings that you shared with our family. In everything we received, we saw God and His love, from the words written in the card, to the fit of the socks, to the Bibles that the boys were so excited to receive. At times we feel so beat down and discouraged, and the words written in the card were just what we needed to feel uplifted and encouraged.

We have been through a lot in life, though in the end God always shines through. You will never know how much you have blessed us in your thoughtfulness. My favorite Bible verse is Matthew 28:19, “Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.” In the ministry of Hope Match you are living out God’s Great Commission. A Testimony from our Back To School Supply Drive:

I just wanted to thank you and your group for helping us out once again. We picked up our school supplies on Saturday and met some wonderful people there. This has eased a huge burden from us. 2011 Thank You Letters

From a lady who had lost her house, got in a bad car accident, lost her father, and was hospitalized, all within a month's time period with no family in the area.  HopeMatch volunteers served her for 2 1/2 weeks, taking care of her animals twice daily (thanks Heather!) and taking her to doctor's appointments and gathering moving supplies (thanks Demeah!):

I must say, you all exceeded my expectations. The gifts were very thoughtful. My daughter was sewing (with her new sewing machine) early Christmas morning. And my son immediately started playing with his dog and the chew toys sent to him. The gifts sent to me were great and I have enjoyed the Study bible tremendously. Times were tough for a few months after I had surgery, and with your generosity, my children still had an amazing Christmas. But beyond the gifts, they were given much more.

I told them where the gifts came from and they were shown that there is good in the world. They were shown that people, even strangers, believe in the true meaning of Christmas. As we blew out the candles on Jesus' birthday cake later that day, they knew that we were celebrating our Savior's Birth!! Thank you for the gifts. More importantly, thank you for giving that example to my children! My daughter even asked if we could sponsor a family next year if we were back on our feet! Thank you!

Dearest Earth Angels,

Waking up Christmas morning this year with grateful hearts bests describes how we felt.  We were humble and feeling so blessed that a family would take the time to show us such kindness.  Reading the Christmas cards that were written for each of us were alone a Gift!  How the words spoke to our hearts as if you really knew us!  The gifts were perfect, everything fit just right.  I can’t even buy clothes for Christian, they end up being too small or too big, but our Earth Angels got it just right!  Wow! God is Good.  So good even right down to the toilet paper!  I’ll explain.  See I am allergic to most toilet paper, so when I opened the box and pulled out a big box of “Quilted Northern” toilet paper, my son and I just looked at each other!  It so happens Quilted Northern is the only toilet paper I can use!  God loves me so much…Well, I though you would get a kick out of that one, so I had to share it!  Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for what you did for us, and I already know God has many blessings coming your way for it!  I hope to one day be on the other end, being the one giving a family a Christmas like you gave us.  God bless all of you and may God keep you healthy and safe “our Earth Angels” who will forever be in our hearts!

Greetings! As I sit here and try to think of what to write I am at a loss for words.  I’m usually good with letters but this is different…how do I capture the gratefulness and amazement that is inside my heart?  A simple Thank You is not enough.  Not only did you change Christmas for us…you were Christmas!  Everything under the tree was from you and it was FULL.  As you know, my daughter’s birthday was right before Christmas (Dec. 23rd) so I spent my money on that gift.

I can’t believe how generous and perfect all the gifts were.  I love the planner because of the colors and whimsical pattern.  The to-do pad and colorful pens are most useful.  The vest is awesome: fits like a glove and the color is great…same with the shirt!  The black purse is so fashionable and modern.  I can’t wait to move into it for my classes.  I’ve been using a pink one which wasn’t bad but doesn’t match much.  The pieces of artwork are lovely.  Do you know the artist?  The dish cloths are going to be put to good use because I prefer to hand wash dishes (when I have the time) because I find it to be relaxing.  The Bible is perfect!!!  I use the headphones every day and the gift  card is so exciting because Sophia and I LOVE to go out to eat.  It is one of our favorite things to do.  It’s a great time to bond because she really opens up to me.  This the crazy part: Applebee’s is her favorite restaurant!  It has been since she was a little girl.  Last but not least, thank you so much for the gift certificate to Conversion Salon.  I was hoping for Great Clips, not such a fancy salon.  It’s like ordering a hamburger and being served filet mignon. 

Thank you for what you did and the type of person you are…you were the hands, feet, and heart of Jesus.  Many receive the call but few answer.  When we are in heaven I hope to give you a big hug! I know when I am able I will do the same thing for someone else.

Thank you for renewing my hope and showing me and my family that God has not forgotten about us and He has a plan.  The peace of Christ is in my heart again and I will praise Him all the days of my life.

2010 Thank You Letters

Dear HopeMatch,

It has taken me way too long to respond to the great kindness you displayed to me during the holiday season. I was very overwhelmed when the young man knocked on my door with such a huge bag of blessings. The light bulbs and ink for my printer were so appreciated. I have used a lot of the small Christian notes. I never saw notes like that. The cleaning pads and toilet brush and kitchen ware are in use right now! I know you took a chance in getting me some music. It was sooo special. I have played those CDs over and over. What a true blessing you were to me and I don't even know you!

Please tell those who made this possible that, yes, you truly lifted my spirits and brought a big smile to my face. I'll be 61 in May and can't keep donating plasma or doing flea markets in the very cold months or the very hot months! The things you and your friends picked out for me were if God Himself gave a custom-made order for me! It was very humbling to receive such a blessing. God bless you and your family. I felt this past Christmas that God has not forgotten me. I have a new church I am attending, but they did not know me at Christmas time. I truly don't know how I qualified for such blessings? God must have reached down and whispered in someone's ear, "Bless this lady this Christmas."

All I can say is what you did for my family at Christmas was an amazing gift from you and God. Words cannot express how grateful we are. My husband has been laid off for two years and we are expecting number 8. Without you it would have been a very sad Christmas for the kids. I am grateful for my family and God. 2009 Thank You Letters

Dear HopeMatch,

"I really wanted to say thank you once again for the Christmas help your family gave to my family. My children had a wonderful day, thanks to your generosity. I wish I had photographs to send to you, just so that you could see the faces of my kids when they opened their gifts on Christmas morning. It was truly a wonderful day. Your letter was a reminder that sometimes it is okay to ask for help and that it is a wonderful feeling to give to someone else.

After meeting you I realized that there were still people out there willing to take a chance on someone they did not know. I also realized that people do really care about other people. I have faith, now, that things will work out for my family. What you did for my children is something that I will always remember. When the time comes (and it will), someone will reach out as I did and I will reach back. Because, I will have known what it is to ask for help and to have received it.

Not trying to sound corny, but when times get hard, I will go back to how I felt when I realized that I had you in my corner, helping me and making Christmas a bright day for my family. Your family will always hold a special place in my heart for the priceless gifts you gave to my family.

As days pass, I hope that you will remember how much you did for us and how much you mean to us, today and forever... I know it was "just Christmas gifts", but, there is so much more involved than that...... we both know what that is.

Dear HopeMatch,

"It was very nice hearing back from you. Things have been going very well for my family this year!

During that Christmas season was very hard for me. Asking for help was not an easy thing to do. I had people email me and insult me for asking for help. I even had a woman tell me to give my kids up for foster care until I could afford to keep them up. What people don't realize is that everyone has a story about how and why they come into the situation they are in.

I am happy to say that I am a FT nursing student!! I took your word (LOL) that 2010 would be a better one for me and my family. My husband and I have began to pave the path back to each other. Things are positive and I am actually happy.

My children will never know how hard things had gotten. I hate to keep your generosity for my kids to myself, but for now, they may never know I had to reach out for help.

You most definitely can use my email to launch your website!! That would be wonderful. I know people are skeptical about helping people. It seems that there are so many scammers out there. I also know that for every scammer, there is an honest person who is in real need of help and assistance.

I know you will do good things with people who need help. With people like you, I know there will always be a helping hand, a shoulder or a strong voice, even more important, a friend.

Please let me know if I can do anything to help you and your non-profit!! It will be nice to be on the opposite end of that road!"
